Coding for Beginners

Kent McDonald —

The Bee Bot is a modern robot that is used for beginners to code. It is used at schools around New Zealand to practice their coding skills. Bee Bots are look alikes to bumblebees and make it more fun to code. There are special maps you can use that coordinate with the Bee Bots so that one square on the map is one move forward. Bee Bots have seven buttons. Four for moving up, down and sideways. One is for when you are finished your code and you press the green GO button. There is a pause button which stops your Bee Bot if your code doesn’t work. Then there is an X button to cancel your code. Our school has 24 Bee Bots and a range of maps. We have been playing with them to learn how to make them work through a path and track their coordinates. We would like to thank the PCG for their donations for the Bee Bots.
