In Homebase 5 and 6, we have been focusing on how materials have specific properties that determine how they can be changed and best used.

Clearview —

Last term our Inquiry focus was ‘Change’. The children designed and built a model house for a bear, that required selecting and using a variety of appropriate materials that could withstand rain.

The children drew a picture of what they predicted their waterproof house would look like using different types of materials. Here are some of HB 5 & 6 stories.

Here are some pics of their fabulous waterproof and not so watertight houses! There was so much fun involved in the making and testing. And lots of chanting of “Wet or Dry!” when the houses were being put to the test with a shower of rain from the hose!
