Kia ora Parents / Caregivers / Whanau

You may remember, towards the end of last term, we conducted an in-depth review of how our people coped during the lockdown period with a specific focus on distance learning, wellbeing and transitioning back to school.  This review was conducted across our Kahui Ako (Rolleston's Learning Community) which involved 11 schools and 23 ECEs in the Rolleston area.  We wanted to hear the stories and experiences that staff, students and families/whanau had while at Alert Levels 3 and 4.  The information and insights we will gain from this will be both fascinating and informative as there will be a few lessons we can take out of it for the future.

We had over 1700 responses across our Kahui Ako, this included approximately 1000 student responses, 500 parents/caregiver responses and 200 staff responses.  With this level of data to analyse and summarise, it has taken much longer than we anticipated.  We do hope to have a full report with an executive summary and recommendations for the future completed and available to share by the end of this term.  For those of you who contributed to the survey, thank you!  Your feedback, thoughts and ideas are appreciated by us all.

You will see a separate article in this newsletter that details our procedure when it comes to placing students into homebases for next year.  This process will get underway early next term and our professional teaching staff always do their very best to ensure that each child has the best possible chance of success when they look at the makeup of classes.

Parents/caregivers can have input into this procedure by letting your child's Team Leader know in writing if there are any social, behavioral or academic considerations that we need to be aware of when placing your child into next year's class.  It's much easier if we know this information in advance so we can plan accordingly, so if there is anything you would like our team to consider, please advise your child's Team Leader before Friday 16th October.  Take a moment to read our procedure in this newsletter if you want to learn more.

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a relaxing weekend.

Ngā mihi nui
