Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone.

Congratulations to the following Clearview Sports teams  for qualifying for the Canterbury Primary School's Winter Tournament due to be held next Thursday at Hagley Park.

  • Year 5/6  and Year 7/8 Netball Teams
  • Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 Hockey Teams
  • Year 7/8 Football Team

These teams represented our school at our local zone competition earlier on and were successful in making it through to the next level.  Outstanding achievement and I wish them all the very best for their competition.

Across the school, our Term 3 topic of inquiry is focused around the topic of sustainability and each team are approaching this in their own way.  It is always exciting to see where the children take their learning and what avenue of inquiry they follow.  Teachers have been learning more about deepening the learning by explicitly planning and facilitating learning experiences which stimulate interest, build on prior knowledge, promote collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.

We saw so many examples of deep learning success at the end of last term when the children shared their inquiries with parents at our 'Celebration of Learning' event.  I look forward to watching students and teachers delve deeper into this topic of Sustainability over the coming few weeks.

Tonight, our Senior Kapahaka Group will be performing at the Horncastle Arena for the Christchurch Schools Cultural Festival.  We are so proud of our Kapahaka Group and it's always a pleasure to watch them perform on stage.  They have been working very hard for many months preparing for this event, under the leadership of Matua Anton McLean and support from Mrs Tracey Young. Ms Tania Soal and Mr Nathan Wood.  Awesome work team!   I wish them all the very best and look forward to watching and cheering from the audience tonight.
