Ten Pin Bowling Maths

Clearview —

The tamariki in Homebase 11 have been learning about fractions.

To extend our thinking and put our learning into a real life experience, we have been playing Ten Pin Bowling, writing our score as fractions, then converting the fractions into decimals. Each group also had to use their knowledge of measurement to create a bowling lane 50cm long to ensure that all games were played on an equal playing level.

A lot of the teams were off to a slow start with 0 pins being bowled over, but the more times they got the chance to bowl their skill factor improved and resulted in a few strikes.
