Blue Skies Camp 2019

On the second Thursday of term 4, team Spark went on camp at Blue Skies. We went on the bus for about 40 minutes. There were about 100 kids between 2 buses.

When we got there we got into our activity groups and started our first activity which was orienteering. There were lots of little metal cards that you had to find to spell something. At the end it started raining which was a bit annoying. The sentence in the end ended up being “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”

The dinner at Blue Skies consisted of pasta bake, lasagna, salads and an ice cream for dessert. The next morning for breakfast we had toast and cereal, (the breakfast was an improvement) most people had the toast and it was great. They also gave us a packed lunch there was a delicious roll, some raisins, a banana, and a cookie, although it was great the cookie could’ve been bigger.

When it started to rain heavily we did this really fun activity called 20 sheets. It was mainly about communication where we would start off with a sheet with some sort of riddle on it that we had to solve then one team member would have to run to the main hall and get a new sheet, it kept going until we had done 20. Whoever’s team sat down first won.

The next day we had some activity time where we went on the flying fox, we had to wear harnesses because there was a mucky pond underneath and you wouldn’t want to fall in there. There was a park and lots of cool activities. We also got to do free choice in your bunk room.

The bunk rooms were small but warm. In our bunkroom our heater started burning and smelling like smoke. We also got to have lots of free time in our bunkrooms.

We also got to build some huts in the trees on the field. Everyone got soaked because it had just stopped raining. We used a giant tree and a big piece of blue cloth. It ended up falling down every 10 seconds but at least we tried!

Blue Skies camp is something to remember well. It was one of my favorite parts of this year in 2019!
