Let her Rip - Rippa Rugby for Girls

Community Notices —

Rippa Rugby

Dear Families, A message from the Selwyn Sports Trust.

Selwyn Sports Trust along with Ellesmere Rugby Union would like to launch the ‘Let her Rip’ campaign aimed at encouraging U8 girls to play Rippa Rugby for their local club. The future of girls’ rugby in Canterbury is bright!

On Thursday 8 March, we would like to launch the program with the first session. The series, which invites girls U8 to participate in training sessions at their local clubs across the Selwyn district, is focused on a combination of education, skill development and game time with the support of local club coaches, experienced coaches and former players.

‘Let her Rip’ campaign is about opening doors and encouraging young girls of varying abilities to have a go. We recognise that there are currently limited opportunities for girls who wish to play rugby or just try the sport. We’re hopeful that the ‘Let Her Rip’ program will increase the number of girls playing and also establish an all-girls Rippa competition on a proposed weeknight.
