Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone

On Sunday 25 March, we hosted the second edition of the Clearview Fete and once again, the sun shone and there was a wonderfully positive atmosphere throughout this event.   Obviously, planning these kinds of events are a huge undertaking and the PCG Organising Committee did an outstanding job.   The countless hours they put into making sure the Fete was a smooth and safe running event is appreciated by us all.   Every detail was mastered by the team and as a result, thousands of people came through the gate to enjoy the entertainment and range of high-quality stalls.

Many of our staff were present throughout the day, shopping and/or helping out which was great to see.   Also, having our students involved in multiple ways went a long way towards ensuring that it was a whole school, inclusive event.   We can and should take a lot of pride from the Clearview Fete,  the positive reviews and feedback we have heard has been overwhelming. Not only was it good for raising funds for the library, but it was brilliant in terms of bringing our school and wider community together.

The total amount raised is yet to be confirmed but it certainly turned a healthy profit. But despite the money, what the Fete achieved was priceless – it united us all for the day and it went a long way towards strengthening our partnerships.

It's hard to believe that we only have one week left of Term 1.   With the term drawing to a close next Friday, we will be bidding farewell to Mrs Jayne Clarke who has been teaching in HB 11 while Mrs Karrie Bryce has been away on study leave.  Jayne is a true asset to our school and her flexibility and professional approach to teaching is appreciated by the students, parents and her colleagues.  I want to thank Jayne for doing such a terrific job in HB 11 and for ensuring the year has started positively for her students in Karrie's absence.

More on the staffing front, next term, we will be welcoming a new member to the Clearview teaching team.  Miss Alicia Bell has been appointed to teach in the Te Kakano Room (Discover Team) alongside Mrs Tansey and Miss Van Looy.  We look forward to welcoming Alicia at the beginning of Term 2.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
