Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone!

Over three days last week, we had a large team of Year 7/8 Clearview students compete in the Koru Games held across the Rolleston and Lincoln areas.  There were hundreds of teams representing schools from across the whole of the South Island, playing sports from lawn bowls to netball.  I was in awe of the way our students competed, the way they demonstrated fair play and how they supported each other.  When their game was over, they would wander over to a different code to cheer on another Clearview team.  I am immensely proud of them all and congratulate them on their performances.  Take a moment to read the article about Koru Games in today's newsletter to learn more.

Also in today's newsletter is an article which explains the student placement procedure we use when forming homebases for next year.  We recognise that for both parents and students, the thought of changing year level, homebase, teacher and even learning space can be a time of uncertainty.  I can assure you that we take this process seriously and work extremely hard to ensure that we form well balanced homebases across the school taking into account a range of things that will set the children up for success.  This process will start early next term and as part of this, we invite parents to make contact with their current child's Team Leader in writing to let them know of anything you feel should be considered when the time comes to place your child into a homebase for 2019.

In regards to next year,  there will be a few more changes to our team.  Mrs Penny Arrowsmith, our Office Manager / Principal's PA has made the very difficult decision to relocate to Tauranga with her husband at the end of this year.  Penny has been a loyal and dedicated member of staff at Clearview since opening in 2010 and we will certainly miss her dearly.

Term 3 will draw to a close tomorrow and it has been a fantastic 10 weeks of learning.  We are excited about what's coming up in Term 4, looking at the calendar of events, it certainly looks like next term will be full of action.  On behalf of the staff, I want to say a big thanks to you all for your ongoing support and partnership you provide us.  I wish you a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break and hope you manage to have some quality time as a family.  See you all when we start back on Monday 15 October.

Nga mihi nui
