Happy Samoan Language Week - Vaiaso le Gagana Samoa!

It's been fantastic to be back open again and to see everyone return after so many weeks away.  Since we have started back, we have averaged 95% attendance across the school which is well above the national average - well-done everyone!  We have put in place a number of measures to help keep everyone safe and the children have embraced their learning routine again which is great to see.

Parents and Caregivers, thank you so much for your continued understanding and support with everything.  From the way you supported your child's distance learning programmes at home (great job!) to the positivity you displayed as we transitioned back to school.  Furthermore, we really appreciate your willingness to follow our health and safety procedures, it has made things run so smoothly each day, so thank you very much for that.

While we are in Alert Level 2, we must continue with our check-in process for contact tracing.  From next week, we will have the check-in tables, registers and hand santiser available at each entry point but we will not have a staff member present.  There will be clear signage reminding you to check-in if you need to come onsite and we ask that you continue with this routine.

As you know, this week began with some much-needed rain on Monday.  While the rain fell from the sky, I was supervising at the kea crossing on Broadlands Drive before school.  While standing there, taking shelter under my umbrella, I couldn't help but notice just how busy it was with all the traffic and congestion around us.  It was literally bumper to bumper along Broadlands Drive from 8:20am - 9:00am and at times, traffic came to a stand-still.  We had precious young people crossing the road in wet and dim conditions and for the most part people were driving to the conditions.

It reminded me that as we approach Winter, the conditions will become colder and at times more treacherous, so please be careful when driving your vehicle around our school and watch out for our children and each other.

I wish you a smooth end to the week and a restful long weekend ahead.

Manuia le aso (have a great day!)
