Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone!

You may remember, earlier this year, we held another successful and enjoyable Clearview Fete.  We had thousands of people come through our gates to enjoy a day of shopping and entertainment.  The PCG raised approximately $30,000 and this money has been earmarked for upgrading the school library.

Over recent months, we have been working really hard at creating a vision for this library upgrade and some amazing ideas have been explored to make this a place where our children can visit and lose themselves in literature.  This has involved re-thinking how the library space can be used to maximise certain areas that have traditionally not been used efficiently.  For example, the outside space at the rear of the library.  We will be installing a new shade sail over this area and hope to purchase some new furniture as well as some large outdoor games eg chess and draughts that the children can use.

We will be creating a 'study zone' in the side room which will include a green-screen for movie making.  We will also be pushing back the library shelving against the walls to open up the library space.   With the addition of new, comfortable furniture, we hope to make it a place that will encourage our children to visit regularly and enjoy reading individually or with their friends.

I have included some images of what the library space will look like with the new layout and furniture.  We are working hard to have this upgrade completed by the start of next term - how exciting!

On a different note, we have some staffing changes to announce.  Both Miss Caitlin Buttle and Mrs Tracy Thompson have been appointed to a new teaching position at Knights Stream School (the brand new school in Halswell), which is set to open at the beginning of Term 1, 2019.   Miss Buttle (HB29) and Mrs Thompson (HB36) will finish up at Clearview during Week 3 of next term to take up their new job.  We congratulate them both on their appointment to this unique opportunity.

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a lovely weekend.

Nga mihi nui
