Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora Parents / Caregivers / Whanau,

Happy Show Week!  It's a shame the Christchurch Show is unable to be held this year, but I wish you a relaxing long weekend nonetheless.

Planning and organisation for next year continues and I'm pleased to share with you how our school will be organised in 2021.  Once again, we will have four teams:

  • Uranga - Yr 0-2 (150 students)
  • Matatea - Yr 3/4 (150 students)
  • Tairi - Yr 5/6 (200 students)
  • Tiramaroa - Yr 7/8  (200 students)

Matatea will relocate into the Green Block as there are 6 learning spaces in there which will accommodate the whole team.  Uranga will be located across the Yellow and Blue Blocks.  Teachers and Power Teams have been confirmed as follows:

I mentioned in an earlier newsletter that students are currently being placed into their Powerteam and HB for 2021.  I also said that we aim to advise of their placement on Friday of Week 9, however, this date has been adjusted slightly and this will now be communicated with students and parents on Monday of week 10.

This week has been Road Safety Week and our students have had a range of learning experiences that have promoted this important message of keeping safe on the roads.

We have had the NZ Trucks Safety Team at school educating us about safety around trucks, the police have worked with Uranga team helping them with crossing roads safely, the Selwyn Sports Trust have run a cycle safety programme with Tairi team and we will end the week with a prize draw for those students who have actively transported themselves to school and had their card stamped.

Parents / Caregivers - please support us by taking the time to discuss this important message of being safe on the roads with your child.  As Rolleston grows in population, the roads are becoming busier so the messages that we have promoted this week are super-important to reinforce from home.  Let's continue to work together for the safety of our precious children.

Ngā mihi nui
