Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone!

It is always about this time of year when we start looking at the structure and organisation for our school next year.  Given the ever-changing dynamics of Rolleston, it makes it a challenge to predict what the roll will do over the next 12 months.   If we can gauge an accurate indication of what our numbers will look like, we can make provision by providing enough homebases and teachers in readiness.

This is where we need your help.   To assist us with forming a better idea of future numbers, could you please email the office admin@clearview.school.nz and advise if you:

  • Have a child/ren starting at Clearview in 2019 (any month)
  • Intend to withdraw your child from Clearview

Your assistance with this is much appreciated!

In today's newsletter, I have included an article that details our school's Health Education programmes.  This is part of a mandatory consultation process that will help us ascertain the health needs of our students.

There is an overview of what has been taught across the school during the past 2 years as well as a link to a brief parent survey that will give you an opportunity to comment on the content of our Health programmes.

Furthermore, we have designed a student survey that will provide us with an insight from their perspective.  With all of this information  gathered, we will be better placed to establish (in broad terms) the health needs of our learners.

On the staffing front, I have some more news to share:

Mrs Angela Scott (Associate Principal) has been away on maternity leave since July 2017.  Ange has made the tough decision not to return to Clearview next year.  As such, she has resigned from her position to work part-time, closer to her home.  Ange has been a foundation staff member since 2009 and she has contributed so much to the success of Clearview.  I want to acknowledge and thank her for everything she has done for the students and school as a whole over the past 9 years.

Mr Kent McDonald has been in an acting Associate Principal position while Ange has been away.  It's with both sadness and excitement to announce that Kent has been appointed to a Deputy Principal position at school in Christchurch, starting in Term 1, 2019.  It will be hard to say goodbye to Mr McD after 5 years at Clearview Primary.   But, we are excited and proud of him for taking on this new and exciting role.

The process of finding a new Associate Principal will commence shortly.

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a relaxing weekend.

Nga mihi nui
