Swimming achievements for two new students

Congratulations on the achievements by two year 7's at the 2018 Swimming Canterbury West Coast Junior Championships.

Hanna Abdou (Room 5) and Ray Suzuki (Room19) had a swimming competition on 27th and 28th of January in Ashburton.

It was the 2018 Swimming Canterbury West Coast Junior Championships, so swimmers came from Ashburton, Geraldine, Greymouth, Hokitika, North Canterbury, Timaru and Selwyn, also swimmers from Oamaru swimming club visited the competition as well.

Hanna got 5 gold, 4 silver medals in her 9 individual races (11 year girls), Ray got 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in his 9 individual races (11years boys).

The results are below…

Hanna - 1st (Gold) in 50m Freestyle 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke and 400m Freestyle

2nd (Silver) in 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly and 100m Individual Medley

Ray - 1st (Gold) in 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 100m Individual Medley, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Back and 50m Freestyle

2nd (Silver) in 100m Freestyle

3rd (Bronze) in 50m Breaststroke

Both Hanna and Ray are also going to a qualified meet, Junior Festival Mako’s Zone National Meet in Dunedin in February.

Well done to Hanna and Ray, we are very proud of your effort and work that you put into your swimming! We look forward to hearing about your next swim meet and seeing you swim at the Cobham Swimming Sports later in the term.
