Cobham @ Bandquest 2018

The Cobham Pop/Rock Band, Not-So-Secret-Seven played at the ROCKSHOP BANDQUEST 2018 held at St. Margaret's College, on Monday 20 August 2018!!

The Cobham pop/rock band the Not-So-Secret-Seven, dazzled the audience with their brand of music -tight grooves, slick musicianship and polished performance, earning vocalist Laalaai Tausa the Best Vocalist prize. The band performed two songs to give the audience the taste of a classic (Give In To Me by Michael Jackson) and a current radio-friendly hit (Coming Home by Sheppard).

The band was required to be there from 3:30 pm onwards to rehearse, soundcheck and get pointers from experts in the field of music. This in itself was a huge learning curve for one and all. The final performance started at 7 pm. Cobham was the last act on the night.

Although the band did not place in the top three, music was definitely the winner on the night. It was a great experience for all the students involved and the energy from the crowds, I am sure, will power the individual talents for a long time into the future. It is safe to say that the future of music in New Zealand is safe in the hands of the talents that were on display!!

*The band: Laalaai (vocals), Clara (vocals), Jack (lead guitars), Kyan (lead guitars), Sophie (keyboards), Callum (bass) and Joran (drums).

(The band consists of members who all audition for the respective roles in the band. They practice once-a-week and perform at the school assemblies + on other occasions such as the upcoming Cobham Music Evening in term 3.)
