TERM 4 2019

CANTERBURY AIMS TRIATHLON

Date: 27 NovemberVenue: Pegasus Reporting time: 9.45amThis is the registration form for the Canterbury Primary & Canterbury AIMS Triathlon. By registering your interest on this form DOES NOT guarantee entry into this event. Each school is limited to a certain amount of entries each, depending on the roll size of the school. You will be notified via email if you/your child has been successful in being entered.
All athletes must compete as individuals and complete all three disciplines (ie there is no 'team' category). The distances are as follows:Swim - 100mCycle - 10.8kmRun - 2.5km

Preference will be given to students who participated in the following events throughout the year:

- Cobham school swimming sports - Canterbury AIMS Swimming sports- Canterbury AIMS Cross Country- Canterbury AIMS Duathlon We will enter students based on results from the above events, if necessary. **PLEASE NOTE: Serious and competitive athletes should enter only. This is a competitive event with the best athletes from around the Canterbury region taking part**

COBHAM ATHLETICS DAY

On Wednesday 23rd October the Cobham Athletics Day is taking place. On this day, students will compete in one of two strands; the Challenge Strand or the Competitive Strand. Both competitions will run simultaneously.

Students wishing to be in contention for qualification for the Canterbury AIMS Athletics competition MUST enter into the Competitive Strand. To opt into the Competitive strand, students will need to click on the following link and fill in the Athletics Competitive Registration Form. On this google form, students are required to enter into a minimum of three events. Please note they can only enter either the 60m or the 100m race but NOT BOTH. If you register for both races you will be removed from one at random. Registrations for the competitive strand close on Wednesday 16th October. Under NO circumstances will any late entries be accepted.

If students do not fill this form out they will automatically be entered into the non-competitive athletic competition (Challenge Strand).


TERM 3 2019

SUMMER SPORT (Starting Term 4)

In term 4, there will be two different opportunities for students to be involved in competitive summer sports. There is the Canterbury AIMS Weekly Sport (taking place on Tuesday afternoons) and the CAIMS Invitation Tournament. Dates are as follows:

Canterbury AIMS Summer Weekly Sport

Starts Tuesday 15 October (Week 1, Term 4) - Tuesday 9 December 2019.

Invitation Tournament

Monday 21 & Tuesday 22 October.

NO sign up form for these trials, which will run during weeks 9 & 10. Keep an eye on the daily notices, as well as an email home from the sport coordinator with trial information. 


TERM 2 2019


RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS COMPETITION

ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS COMPETITION

CLICK HERE  to register for CAIMS & CANTERBURY PRIMARY SCHOOLS ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS. 

DATES: COMPETITIVE and RECREATION: Wednesday 12 June TIME: Approximately 8.30am – 2.30pm Exact times for each grade will be confirmed after entries have closed. 

VENUES: Christchurch School of Gymnastics, QEII Park, 193 Travis Road, North Brighton, Christchurch. 

CATEGORIES: Individual apparatus and Team competition. Teams consist of 3 or 4 gymnasts (top 3 scores on each apparatus count). Gymnasts entered in teams will also count for individual placings. Placings will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd on each apparatus.

Registrations close May 20th. 


TERM 1 2019

Please note that in 2019 weekly summer competitive sports will be played in Term 4. The Canterbury AIMS Summer Tournament will take place in Term 1 - see below for more details. 

COBHAM CYCLING TEAM

If you wish to sign-up to be part of the 2019 Cobham Cycling Team please CLICK HERE to register. 

Riders in the Cobham team will compete every Wednesday afternoon at Tai Tapu over terms 2 and 3 in the Christchurch Schools Cycling road competition as part of an overall Cycling NZ Schools programme.

Exact dates and times are TBC. Last year students left school at 2:15pm in order to be at the registration by 2:50 for a 3:30pm start. You must have a road bike if you wish to take part (no mountain bikes are allowed). 

Registrations close Monday 18 March at 5pm. 


COMPETITIVE WINTER SPORT SIGN-UPS

This registration is for competitive sport only. Sign ups for non-competitive sporting options will be available soon. 

Winter sport runs during terms 2 & 3 on Tuesday afternoon. If you are successful in trialing and are selected in a Cobham team, you will play other Intermediate school teams from around Christchurch. Competitive sports include: rugby, football, hockey, netball, table tennis, squash and badminton.

Trials will start March 19 and run for three weeks during Tuesday afternoons and one lunchtime. You must be available for AT LEAST two trials in total, even if you are away on school camp during this time.

Make sure you read ALL of the information on the registration form carefully before signing up and make sure your details are accurate.

CANTERBURY DUATHLON

Please note - this is NOT a participation event - it is highly competitive with the best athletes from around the Canterbury region competing. Serious and competitive students should enter only. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW AND IN THE REGISTRATION FORM CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING.

Each school has a limited number of entries for this event. If registration numbers exceed this limit there will be a filtering system in place to ensure our most capable athletes are entered. You must be a competent biker and runner to register. Please see the following times to give you an indication of the standard from last year: 

(Year 7 & 8 race distances: Run 2km, bike 9km, run 1km)

Year 8 Boys - 00:29:49 - Run - 00:06:14 ; Bike - 00:18:21 ; Run 2 - 00:03:31 (plus transitions)

RACE DETAILS
Date of event: Monday 25 March
Venue: Ruapuna Raceway (Mike Pero Motorsport Park)
Time: Reporting time 9:15 am for participants ready for race briefing. Races will conclude by approximately 1:30 pm.

BASKETBALL

Please click the link below if you wish to trial for a Cobham Basketball team in 2019.

Basketball games are held at the YMCA Bishopdale Recreational Centre on Friday evenings during terms 2 & 3. Students are expected to be available for ALL games. If they are successful in being selected in one of our top teams, there will also be the opportunity to play in other tournaments throughout the year, some of which include trips outside of Christchurch in the school holidays (these are not compulsory if you just want to play on Friday nights). Trials will be starting next week - keep an eye on the school notices for more details.

Registrations close Wednesday 27th February at 5 pm.

WATER POLO

Please click the link below if you wish to trial for a Cobham water polo team. You need to be confident swimming in deep water and please note that water polo runs for the whole year.

CJCA CRICKET TOURNAMENT

All games will be 9-a-side and played on an 18 metre pitches.Dates for Christchurch (CJCA) Tournaments:BOYS – 7th & 8th March 2019GIRLS – 14th & 15th March 2019
These teams will be selected out of the summer tournament trials (Week 3 - days and times TBC). If you want to play in these tournaments you need to registerby 8th Feb via the summer tournament rego link. 


SCHOOL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

Played at school so there is no fee required. Singles only. Click on the registration link for more information.

CANTERBURY AIMS SUMMER TOURNAMENT

Date: Tuesday 12 March

Venue: Various

Sports: Cricket, Touch, Softball, Bowls, Golf, Tennis

Students are able to participate in ONE sport only, as the tournament for all sports is played on the one day. There will be trials for cricket, touch and softball only. More information on trials will be available soon.

SCHOOL  SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The school swimming sports is an optional, competitive event. All entrants must be competent and confident swimmers. Registrations close Friday 15th February.

Date: Monday 25th February 2019

Time: 9:45 am - 12:15 pm

Venue: Jellie Park

There is a cost of $3 to compete.

Events at the Cobham Swimming Sports are:

  • 50m Open Butterfly

  • 50m Freestyle

  • 50m Backstroke

  • 50m Breaststroke

Students must enter a minimum of two events.
