Day 2 - Wrap Up

Basketball

Today we played pretty average but got the win with a score of 12-36. Tomorrow we are playing the 2nd place of Pool A and we are pumped to take on another great team. But with courage we will battle hard to make it to the top.  Written by: Jack Busch-ward

Football

Today we played 3 games.  The first game we played Te Atatu and we started slow and went 1-0 down early but picked up the pace and scored late in the first half to even it up. The rest of the game was close but we had way more possession and so many shots but we didn’t score and the game ended 1-1.  Our second game was the hardest game of the tournament we played Sacred Heart they were really good but we played the best we have all tournament and put up a good fight they were really dirty and the referee had a really hard game to ref because there were players, coaches and spectators all yelling at him. We ended up losing that game 4-0 but we were really proud of the work rate. Our last game of the day was against Katikati we were really tired because we played 50 minutes after our second game but we put up a good fight but again went down 1-0 early but came back strong and had a lot of chances on goal and finally came to score late in the second half to even it up we should’ve won but a draw is alright. Player of the day for the first game was Ben Bon,e second game was Caleb Shepherd and the third game was Cody Johnson.  Written by Matt Foord and Ben Trillo

Girls Hockey

Today we played two games. The first game was against Marist College, we won 4-0 but we didn’t play as well as we had in the last games but it was still nice to come out with a win. Our player of the day was Lily, because she had a really positive attitude and always cheering everyone on and scoring an awesome goal. Later in the afternoon we played STAC, we knew from the start that it would be a tough game so we prepared ourselves really well. Unfortunately, we lost 1-0 but still had a great game. It was probably our best game we’ve played as we played more as a team and we were really proud of ourselves, even though we lost. Our player of the day was Sam, for her awesome defence, great tackles and clearing the ball out under pressure. Overall, we had a really good day and played really well as a team and look forward to playing Fairfield and in the quarter final tomorrow.

Girls water polo

This morning we played an early game against Baradens and it was really close! We played a great game much better than yesterday because we stuck to our players and didn’t give them a chance to shoot. Our defence was on fire! We came close to scoring goals a couple of times but we didn’t manage to get any goals. Unfortunately, the other team got a goal from a 5m (free shot at goal) and in the end we lost 1-0. Player of the day was Scarlett because she saved many goals and played amazing! Our second game we played against Carmel and it was also really tough! It was super close! We scored a great first goal and then they scored one two! Then we scored again but so did they! They are a very good team but we put up a good fight even though we were really tired having only played a game a few hours before. The final score was 2-2! We were a bit disappointed with the game but it was a good finishing score. Player of the day was Georgia for always being feisty and going for the ball all the time.

Climbing

Today was a disappointing day. Sue Petrie missed out by six to get into the finals. George Darnbrough missed out by two. Sue was competing against International level girls so she did extremely well to come eleventh. George got a 60 second penalty for not hitting the button at the top of the speed wall so he came second. They both tried their hardest so that’s all we can ask.

Golf

Today I played average and shot 81. It could’ve been better but I did good. I am sitting at 5th place with 2 rounds to go.

Swimming

Hanna:

Today I got 6 medals overall and I got a P.B (Personal best) in all my events except 100 Breastroke. I got 2 GOLD, 1 for 50 Backstroke my time was 32.56 and 1 for 100 backstroke and my time was 1.09. I also got 3 silver for 100 IM and my time was 1.10, 200 Backstroke and my time was 2.29 plus I nearly got the aims games record, also, I did 50 freestyle and my time was 28.98. I also got 1 bronze for 100 Breastroke and my time was 1.24 which was good. I am really happy.

Maddy:

I had six events today and got silver medals in two of them; 100 FLY and 50 FLY. Both were P. B’s with 1:08.58 for 100 FLY and 30.53 in 50 Fly. It was a good day for me and I was happy with my times.

Conor:

I had 4 finals today, which where the 200 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 backstroke and 50 Breastroke. I am absolutely stoked at the results that came out today. I got a silver medal in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:29.13 or something like that. I had an awesome day in the finals today with PB’s in everything except the 100 backstroke, because it was my last event and I was tired. Overall, I’m really happy with my results today.
