Kids' Lit Quiz 2019 @ C

Annie Bowker —

The 2019 Canterbury competition was held at Cobham. This tests students knowledge of all kids' literature.

The 2019 competition was again held at Cobham on Wednesday 13 March with 53 teams competing. There are 10 categories in the competition and each has a set of 10 questions. Teams do not know these until the day and before the first round each team selects a category to double on. This year the categories were; Adventure, Amphibians, Babies,Birthdays,Capital Cities, Captains, Caves, Disabilities, Footwear and Houses/ Homes. There is never any way that teams can predict and prepare for the categories prior to the competition.

The Cobham 1 team of Ellie Busfield, Daisy Aaron, Evangelyn Teh and Hannah Wood were placed 3rd equal with a total score of 75.5 and missed the sudden death question to Cashmere Primary. They received a $10 book voucher. The Cobham 2 team of Sam Allan, Sam Corbett, Emma Mauger and Katie Horton scored 69 and were 12th equal.

These teams and other interested students who share a passion for reading meet each week rather like a book group during which time books are reviewed, recommended and new publications discussed. The love of reading is well and truly something these students enjoy.
