Road Cycling Wrap-up 2023

Courtney Ross —

Another strong year for Wairarapa Cobham in Road Cycling! Congratulations to our athletes for achieving some outstanding results.

School Cycling Weekly Competition

The Cobham road cycling team had a fantastic year with placings in all events. They worked well as a team and grew throughout the year.

Cobham had only 4 cyclists competing so we were one of the smaller teams there, so to come away with the top 3 individual awards and placings in teams events showed the strength of this team.

They showed true Cobham values and were respectful and encouraging to each other and other teams.

A special thanks to Graham Free who managed the team throughout the season.

Skoda South Island Cycling Tour

George and Aimee represented Cobham at this event and they achieved some impressive results on the tour. It was a 2-day tour with two events each day.

Day 1 - Saw two New Zealand titles up for grabs. The weather was perfect and some great racing went on. Day 1 included the time trial and criterium race.

Day 2 - The weather made for a tricky ride in the afternoon with strong, cold winds. Day 2 included the individual hill climb and road race.
