CAIMS Cross Country Wrap-Up

Courtney Ross —

Success for Wairarapa Cobham at the CAIMS Cross Country!

On June 21, the CAIMS Cross Country took place at Ngā Puna Wai. We had 38 competitors on the day set to compete, and what a fantastic job they did!

Despite the rain we experienced in the days leading up to the Cross Country, it was great conditions to run in on the day. It was notably wet and muddy underfoot at times around the course, which added an extra element of challenge to the 3km course. This year there were changes to the course map, which saw the finish line being placed on the athletics track. This allowed for optimal viewing for all spectators and supporters.

Wairarapa Cobham students, sporting our brand-new running singlets, represented the school exceptionally well, demonstrating resilience, grit, and determination throughout. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

Students from Cobham who placed in the top 20 in their respective races are as follows:

Year 7 Girls

9th - Amelia Black
12th - Rosa Redfern

Year 7 Open

8th - Daniel Carey
19th - Thomas Weir

Year 8 Girls

4th - Aimee Free

Year 8 Open

4th - Brent Cameron
9th - Kento Stephenson
