Wearable Junk
As always, the Wearable Junk Competition on Tuesday evening proved to be a great success. I am always thoroughly impressed by the creativity and the artistic flare that our learners show as they design and create their outfits. Congratulations to Rosie Renner for her winning entry of Alice's Trip from Wonderland. It was clear that there was a significant amount of time, effort and creativity that went into designing this piece of art - ka rawe!
Thank you to the Conservation Club for organising and running such a successful event. A special thank you to Miss Blewitt, for the time and effort you put into, not only preparing and running the Wearable Junk event, but also for the work you do with the Conservation Club.
Teacher Aides
On Monday we warmly welcomed four new Teacher Aides to our team, Charlotte Seal, George Faiva, Kayla Love and Hannah Fifield.
They will be working with English Language Learners across our school, as well as supporting learners with High Needs. We had a really strong field of candidates apply and we are pleased to be able to appoint Charlotte, George, Kayla and Hannah to these positions.
International Learners
On Thursday morning we welcomed eight international learners from China to College Street Normal School. These learners experienced life at College Street Normal School and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities that were available to them. Hosting international learners is a fantastic way for our students to learn about and celebrate different cultures from around the world. I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to those families who volunteered to be a homestay family.
Kiss and Go
We have two Kiss and Go spaces for our school, one on College Street and the other on Karaka Street. It is important that these spaces are used appropriately to help ensure the smooth pick up of learners. Please ensure you remain in your vehicle while in a Kiss and Go space and pull forward if a space is available. This allows others to access the space behind you. Please don’t try to parallel park into spaces on College Street as this upsets the flow of traffic. It is also extremely dangerous to perform u turns on College Street. Please use the roundabout at the intersection of College Street and Victoria Avenue. If a space isn’t available in the Kiss and Go space please drive around the block or alternatively park down a side street and walk to collect your child.
