Kia ora koutou, Talofa Lava, Ni Hao, Namaste, Malo e lelei - Welcome to Week 10!

Term One

As the term draws to a close, I want to take this chance to say a huge thank you to our amazing team! It has been another fantastic term and, as always, our team has been working hard to continue to provide quality teaching and learning here at school. There has been a range of fantastic learning taking place, including academic, sporting and cultural activities to name just a few. There have also been opportunities for our students to share their learning with family and whānau.

Whānau Sharing

Thank you to everyone who visited school to take part in our whānau sharing. Our learners love being able to share the learning that has taken place throughout the term. As I have visited the various whānau sharing sessions, it has been great to see the pride and excitement our students have for sharing their learning.

Rippa Rugby

On Thursday we had four teams compete at the Junior Cup Rippa Rugby tournament. This was an awesome tournament and it was a great experience for our learners. A huge thanks to Kate, Mr Young, George and Nick for coaching the teams and to the whānau supporters. George and Nick, we really appreciate you giving up your valuable time to work with our learners!

Lit Quiz

On Monday, we had two teams of impressive readers compete at the Manawatū Lit Quiz Competition at the Civic Centre in Feilding. There were 45 teams from schools in the area, and our learners were fantastic representatives for College Street. They showed an excellent level of knowledge, dissected questions to find clues to help them, and demonstrated strong collaboration skills.

Both teams did very well and were top scorers for at least one round each, with the College Street A team (Ming Jun, Tasweeb, Sylvie, and Disuli). Thank you to Miss Casey and Mrs Fisher for coaching the teams.

ANZAC

As communicated, we will be holding an ANZAC day assembly on Friday 11 April at the different time of 9am. We extend a warm welcome to families and whānau to join us for this special school event. Please note that the ANZAC assembly will be held in place of an afternoon assembly. I would like to thank Mrs Langley for organising and running this event.

As we do every year, there will be an opportunity for two of our Year 6 learners to lay a wreath at the upcoming Palmerston North City Council Civic ANZAC day service. The Civic Service will take place in Te Marae o Hine – The Square, beginning at 9am. There is an opportunity for learners to march in a parade before the Civic Service. If you and your child would like to join us for the parade and the Civic Service, you are very welcome. Please note, you will need to remain with your child during this event.
