Science Whānau Sharing

As I reflect on Term 3, I can’t help but think about all the amazing opportunities our learners have enjoyed over the last 10 weeks. Our learners have particularly enjoyed learning through the Science curriculum and it has been fantastic to be able to share this learning with whānau. Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend one of these sessions, we greatly appreciate your support.

Active Participation

I think it is very important for learners to get involved in as many opportunities as possible while at primary school. It is fantastic to see so many taking on this challenge and getting involved in Jump Jam, Vex Robotics, various sports, Kapa Haka, Ricoh tournament and the Wearable Junk Challenge to name just a few.

Strategic Plan 2024 - Consultation

You would have recently received a post on Hero regarding our Draft Strategic Plan. We are currently seeking your input to help us plan for the future. Your voice helps our school to make improvements, providing all learners with the best school experience. If you haven't already, please log in to Hero and provide your thoughts and ideas about how we can achieve our strategic goals in 2024. Alternatively, here is a link to a Google Form to provide your feedback. Thank you for the time and thought that you will give to this important process.

Te Wiki o Te Reo

Last week we celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori here at College Street Normal School. Throughout the week there was an increased focus on using te reo in and around the school. Members of our Kapa Haka rōpū organised a te reo challenge for our teachers as well as a te wā tuku reo Māori - Māori language moment to celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. This celebration was in the form of a whole school haka. You can check out the haka on our school facebook page. A massive thank you to Jacqui Sturgess, Lyn Loveridge and Tyla Wood for the time and effort they put into Te Ao Māori and also our Kapa Haka rōpū throughout the year.

EPRO 8 and Robotics

It has been fantastic to see so many of our learners taking part in EPRO8 and VEX GO during the term. The learners in Pods 5 & 6 have been thoroughly enjoying these sessions. To solve these problems our learners have been developing their scientific and engineering thinking as well as using lots of our school competencies, collaboration, thinking and resilience to name just a few.

Our Digi Leaders have also been busy in Room 20. These leaders supported our younger learners with ScratchJr, Edison robots, Tinkercad, and Sphero robots. The learners in Room 20 absolutely loved these lessons and the engagement was high!
