Super Reader!

Mrs C Cheyne —

Year 7 has a set of challenges to complete for their personal reading over the year. The first challenge, which most girls conquer by December, is to read 10 books.

Each year there are a few keen readers who try to complete all 13 Reading Challenges, meaning they have read over 215 books. Astounding!!

If they succeed by the end of Term 4, a Reading Challenge is named after them for the following year group.

Over the last few years, we have added:

· The Level 8 Evie Ballantyne Challenge 2014

· The Level 9 Georgia Wong Challenge 2015

· The Level 10 Poppy Henderson and Sophia Hessian Challenge 2017

· The Level 11 Clara Ballantyne Challenge 2018

· The Level 12 Lauren Gibbens Challenge 2019

· The Level 13 Scarlett Wilson Challenge 2020

As well as choosing books they want to read, there are different genres within each level to broaden and extend their reading – biographies, classics, books their parents read when they were young, a book vs movie comparison, Charles Dickens etc.

2021 has broken all previous records!

Beth Elder finished her 215 books by the end of Term 3.

Congratulations, super reader! The Level 13 Challenge will be named after you next year!
