International Week Success

Ms L Stirling and Dr S Henderson —

Every year the international students and staff celebrate International Week, which gives the community a chance to acknowledge all the different cultures within our school. This week, activities were planned for each day for students of all year levels and staff to enjoy.

The International Assembly always kicks off the week with a wonderful showcase of student talent. This year, the school hall was colourfully decorated with different flags of the world and the students and staff were able to enjoy the international students’ performances. Due to the uncertainty of Covid restrictions, the items were pre-recorded and edited together for an entertaining assembly, including vlogs from our two online students.

On Wednesday, students had an opportunity to try different cultural games at lunchtime. They could hone their agility skills with Chinese ‘jianzi’, and their throwing finesse with petanque.

International Snack Food Day was held on Thursday. It is always a popular event with the school community with snack dishes from around the world for students to purchase and enjoy. This year was no exception and it was very popular with students from across both campuses supporting the event and as a result, all of the delicious dishes were sold out in no time!

The last day of the week was another busy day of celebrations. Students were encouraged to dress up in their favourite international clothing or in the colours of a flag. It was fantastic to see students in their colourful outfits around the school, embracing the theme.

To round off the week, Dr Macleod held a special International Week chapel with the important messages of courage and integrity.

We would like to thank the students and staff who supported International Week 2022 and helped make it a great success! We are all looking forward celebrating again next year!
