Last Thursday on 16 May, Columba College hosted the 2019 Otago region Chinese Speech Competition. We had a very successful night with great team work.

We had 6 Columba students participate in the Chinese Speech Competition. They were: Year 9 Anise Maclean and Nora Paicu, Year 10 Maya Bromby, Luna Koyama and Wakane Ogawa, Year 13 Joelle Gatenby.

As a result, Joelle won 2nd place in senior category; Maya Bromby won 2nd place in junior category (Maya also won "the best talent award-Chinese Calligraphy writing"), Anise and Luna won "3rd place" in junior category; Nora and Wakane won “Distinguish award” in Junior category.

Maya and Joelle will go to Christchurch together with another 4 students to represent the Otago region to attend the "South Island Final Speech Competition" on  Sunday 26 May. We wish them all the best.
