Athletics Day

A Carnival of Colour at the Caledonian

Sports Department —

The annual Columba College sports day took place on Monday 8th March 2021 at the Caledonian and, despite chilly conditions to start the day, the event was again a huge success. The dress-ups were amazing, the cheering was loud, and there were many delightful moments across the day that showcased the spirit of competition.

Columba's annual sports day is all about encouraging participation and friendly house competition, as well as celebrating the impressive talents of our competitive athletes. Congratulations to all students and staff for a fantastic day on Monday. The full school event was brimming with spirit and the camaraderie seen across age groups was a delight to witness. Always a highlight in the sporting calendar, athletics day provides an opportunity for our competitive athletes to test their skills against their talented peers, and at the same time provides an abundance of fun, house events and tabloid games for those students just wanting to participate and enjoy the day with their friends.

A brisk wind did not deter enthusiasm, and it was amazing to see the number of students who got out on the track and field and gave it their best! Please click on the attachments below to find a summary of results from the day (senior and junior school results). Congratulations to Alex Duff who achieved a record in the U15 Shot Put, throwing a distance of 10.8m and breaking the previous best throw distance of 9.86m. Well done!

Thank you to all the parents, family members, and friends of Columba who came out and supported our students at the Caledonian on Monday. Your presence at our big event was greatly appreciated. Make sure you keep an eye out on the Columba Facebook page to see an athletics day video that will be uploaded very soon!
