Squash Otago Secondary Schools Competition

Otago Squash ran a regional tournament on the last Friday of Winter Sport's week, as a local initiative in this year that has been significantly shaped by Covid-19. Columba College had a team of three Year 8 Squash players enter, and we are extremely proud of their efforts.

The 2020 Top Secondary School's Tournament took on a different look this year with an individual as well as a teams tournament taking place on the last Friday of School's Sports week. Secondary School's with Year 7 students onwards were eligible to enter. 

Columba College Year 8 students Melanie Button, Aminah Ahmad and Sophie Canton all represented Columba at the Tournament, and did the school proud! They played some tough matches against more senior students from Kavanagh College, however it was great to witness their determined efforts and team spirit on and off the court.   

2020 Winner of the Top School's Cup were: Otago Boys High School & Kavanagh College. 

Well done to our three young squash players. It was encouraging to see your enthusiasm, and we will watch your progress over the years ahead with interest.
