Learning Recognition Credits will be available to NCEA students in 2021.
NZQA has implemented Learning Recognition Credits (LRCs) to NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 for 2021 as a result of the disruption of Covid-19 lockdown.
NZQA has recently announced that Learning Recognition Credits will be available again for students in 2021.
What does this mean?
Level 1 - Students are able to gain up to 8 Learning Recognition Credits to go towards the required 80 credits needed to achieve NCEA Level 1. 1 LRC is allocated per 5 credits gained but capped at 8 LRC per student should they be needed. Essentially, this means that a student who gains between 72-79 credits will be able to pass Level 1 NCEA as a result of the additional LRCs given.
Levels 2 & 3 - Students are able to gain up to 6 Learning Recognition Credits to go towards the required 60 credits needed to achieve NCEA Levels 2 & 3. 1 LRC is allocated per 5 credits gained but capped at 6 LRC per student should they be needed. Essentially, this means that a student who gains between 54-59 credits will be able to pass the Level as a result of the additional LRCs given.
