Our cattle purchased last year are doing very well and we will be selling them mid-2018. 

We are now looking to purchase weaners for the 2018-19 year (as this is the best time to buy weaners). Those farmers who advised they would be happy to graze cattle for the school in 2017-18, can you please advise if you are happy to do so for 2018-19 if required?

To all our city dwellers, weaners are currently selling at around $400. If you would like to adopt a weaner, here is a recap of the fundraising process:

· Six-month-old cattle (weaners) are purchased on behalf of the Sports Council and grazed on farms over the next 12 months.

· Weaners currently cost approximately $400 each, and either farmers add their Columba weaner to their herd or town folk adopt a weaner to be grazed by a Columba farmer.

· At the end of this time the cattle are sold for a profit, and the purchase price is refunded to the purchasers.

· The farmer receives 10% of the profit as a contribution toward grazing.

· The remaining profit is funds raised for the Sports Council.

The Sports Council can arrange buying, pick-up and delivery of the cattle, included in the purchase price.

Certificates of Ownership are issued to the purchasers. The Sports Council will be responsible for all record keeping and administration.

This is your opportunity to support the Year 1 – 13 sports programme at Columba College. The full cost of your contribution is refunded to you after one year. The price of cattle can double after a year’s grazing so this is a fantastic way to fundraise for your child’s sporting activities
