Countdown to Maadi

Mrs C Sinclair —

Next Friday morning, the 19th of March, a selected rowing squad are headed to Lake Karapiro, near Cambridge, for the NZSSRA Maadi Cup.

The girls have been working incredibly hard over the past five to six months and expended tremendous effort over the summer holidays as well in the lead-up to this event. Last week alone they calculated that they spent over 24 hours training at the harbour, both on and off the water.

Most of the rowers have three crews to race at Maadi. This involves heats, two sets of repechages for each crew and, hopefully, plenty of A finals for the squad. This all takes place over the course of nine days (19-28th March), including a training day and inter-school events such as the parade on Sunday the 21st.

Congratulations to the following rowers who have been selected as part of this squad: Alexis Phipps, Bridgette Sutton, Brooke Kendall, Caitlin O’Brien, Clair Wild, Elyse Davey, Isabel Gallagher, Jendi Minty, Laura Sammut, Maddy Sullivan, Maya Bromby, Meg Macdougall, Millie Scott, Phoebe Wellstead, Sara Reynolds, Siena Snow and Tamzin Burgess.
