Finally we acknowledged the extraordinary NCEA achievements of last years’ Dux, Clara Ballantyne. Not only did she achieve Scholarships in Art History, English, Geography, History, and Statistics, but she was recognised as one of the country's top students and achieved “Outstanding” grades in Art History, English, History and Statistics.
Even more impressively, she gained top scholar in New Zealand in English and History. Clara was the only student to get full marks, 24 out of 24 in each of the examinations. The Prime Minister awarded Clara a $10,000 Premier Award, as one of the top 10 candidates in New Zealand.
This is truly a noteworthy achievement, topped off by the announcement that Clara was awarded the Cambridge University Girdlers' Scholarship this week. We look forward to hearing much more about Clara’s success in the future.
