What will Monday bring?

Mrs P Duthie —

It has been an interesting week in an eventful and unprecedented year!

As I write this newsletter, I have just completed sending offers of place to day students for 2021 but it seems surreal (to say the least) to be doing this and not even to know what will be happening next week with any level of certainty. 5.30pm tonight cannot come quickly enough in that regard.

Whatever the announcement, we have planned for Level 3. Junior school students have learning packs prepared and we have brushed up on our Google Meets skills. As optimists, we hope we have over-planned and that our remote learning skills will not be needed.

This newsletter is full of the wonderful successes of our students. It is great to see them so involved and engaged. Congratulations to our students for their tremendous Science Fair success and to be Best in Fair is an impressive accolade. But to our students at all levels keep participating and keep enjoying what school has to offer. As I said before, school is a very lonely and empty place without you.

Our Year 11 students have taken stoically the postponement (yet again) of their semi-formal and we hope that future planned events where we have more than 100 attending will be able to happen. It is disheartening when so much planning has occurred and expectation is high and then an event cannot occur.

I came across the link below to independent research which shows that state-integrated schools offer the best value for money when compared to private or state options.

It is interesting reading/listening and reminded me it is timely to offer a sincere and genuine thank you to all parents who pay their AVC. It is this money which allows this state integrated school to provide the quality education that it does. The AVC is tax deductible and parents/caregivers are always able to pay more should they wish.

I glance at the clock on my screen and note that it is 5.08pm. Time to tune in to see what Monday will bring.

Take care and stay safe.

5.40pm update - happy to have a Level 2 Monday!
