Road Safety Otago Presentation

Miss O Charles and Miss G Wong —

On Tuesday 30th March, Year 11 - 13 students were privileged to be one of the first schools to participate in Road Safety Otago’s presentation on safe driving.

Roger Oakley, Jeremy Byfield and Rhys Gardner each talked to us about road safety in their respective roles as a Motor Rally Organiser, Serious Crash Investigator, and Chief Executive of Dunedin firm, Gfactor Technologies.

We were lucky enough to try out Rhys’ high-tech driving simulator which created a virtual reality driving experience. Many of our students are currently learning to drive so this experience was an invaluable opportunity to learn about good driving habits and mistakes to avoid.

The school would like to thank Road Safety Otago for this opportunity and we hope that this presentation will be able to be rolled out in schools across the region to encourage students to be safer drivers.

One News came to film Columba students as they experienced this innovation. Watch the story here.
