Alliance Française Presentation to Angela Fu

Miss C Gardiner —

Angela Fu (Year 12) being presented with a subscription of books donated by Ms Cecilia Madeleine, the official representative from the New Caledonian government.

Angela Fu was awarded her special prize this Friday for winning the year 12 French Speaking Concours Oral competition. The annual competition is held in each region and run by the Alliance Française in partnership with the New Caledonian embassy. The first place winners for year 12 and 13 students are entered into the national competition where they speak on a random topic with a judge.

Normally, the prize is a trip to New Caledonia but given the extenuating circumstances this year, Cecilia Madeleine, the representative of the New Caledonian embassy came to award a prize of books to Angela in person. We held a small ceremony in the reception office to give Angela her prize. Present were Angela's mother Ms Agnes Sun, representatives of the Alliance Française in Dunedin Mr David Moir and Kim Cousins, Angela's teacher Ms Chrystal Gardiner and of course our principal Mrs Pauline Duthie. Angela's dedicated commitment to her studies, ability to make learning enjoyable and excellent communication skills are all factors in her remarkable success.
