From the Board of Trustees

Ray Anton - Chair, Board of Trustees —

The Board of Trustees has spent time this year establishing a robust sub-committee structure ensuring governance of key policies such as health and safety and curriculum.

The Board has also had guest presenters to explain the arrangements that might be involved in entering a Community of Learning (which is still on hold in Dunedin) and on the work the Junior School teachers are doing in thinking about their learning programmes and new classroom spaces. The Board of Trustees is also joining a training workshop on governance of integrated schools with the Board of Governors on Saturday. The school and Board is preparing for the scheduled visit of the Education Review Office (ERO) in the last week of term.

This term the Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Mr Mike Wennekes, a long serving member of the Board of Governors who was appointed to the Trustees and who oversaw governance of the financial operations of the Trustees. Mr Wennekes saw the Board move to a sound financial position and his service is greatly appreciated. The Board of Trustees is now seeking to co-opt a member with a financial background to support them in governance of financial operations.

Parents in the Columba community are invited to contact the Board chair, Mr Ray Anton, ray.anton@chf.co.nz in the first instance if they are interested in contributing to the College in this way.

The next Board of Trustees meeting is Thursday 14 September, 7pm.

Ray Anton, Chair Board of Trustees
