"Sticky Rice Dumpling for Chinese-Dragon Boat Festival"

Miss C Gardiner —

To celebrate "Chinese-Dragon Boat Festival" at Columba College, Year 3 students had a 端午节duān wǔ jié workshop, where they made “Paper Sticky Rice Dumplings in a steamer”.

Sticky rice dumplings 粽子 zòng zi are the most traditional Dragon Boat Festival food. There are two flavours: sweet and salty. They are made of glutinous rice, Chinese date (sweet flavour), meats and beans (salty flavour). Zongzi are wrapped in triangle or rectangle shapes in bamboo or reed leaves, and tied with soaked stalks or colourful silky cords.
