Columba Students continue to Sparkle on the Ice

Mrs G Beardmore —

Columba College has a proud history of students participating in figure skating and excelling on the ice. The skill, athleticism, commitment to training, and art of expression is incredible to see in athletes who take part in this amazing sport. Some recent results achieved by two Columba students are worthy of celebration!

Fantastic news from the ice-skating rink for Columba College! Year 8 student Madison and Year 10 student Selina have just been named in the NZ International B Team following the NZ Selections Clucas Cup held in Auckland at the weekend. Madison, in the Basic Novice Grade and Selina in the Intermediate Novice has reattained her place again this year in the team! Both girls placed first at the competition over the weekend and cemented their positions in the NZ International B Team. What a fantastic achievement for this talented young pair of ice-skaters!

Both girls will now turn their attention towards qualifying for the NZ Figure Skating Nationals later this year and are eligible to compete internationally. Selection criteria for being named in a NZ International A team, requires an Advanced Novice Grading. An accolade that will no doubt be achieved by these two young Columba Figure Skaters in the not too distant future!

Congratulations Madison and Selina. We are extremely proud of what you have both achieved!
