Family ANZAC Service - Resource
Below are resources for you to hold a simple ANZAC Service in lockdown. This service has been prepared by our Chaplain, Dr J Macleod.
The script for the service is attached to this article. The service should take less than 15 minutes, but feel free to modify it according to your family's needs.
Preparation
You will need:
- A NZ flag (see attachments) and a way to 'raise' it (e.g. blue-tack)
- A poppy to wear (to make one, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCEjUe4dffs&t=4s)
- An ANZAC wreath (see attachments)
- A way to play audio files and time one minute
You also need to assign the following roles: a leader, 3 readers, 2 people to read prayers, someone to play the audio files, someone to raise the flag, someone to place the wreath; there are also specific questions for the youngest and oldest people present.
After the Service
After the service you might like to:
- Make ANZAC biscuits and have a shared morning tea.
- Ring an elderly relative or friend to ask what ANZAC day commemorations were like when they were a child.
