Ski racing
On Monday 7 August, the Columba College ski racing teams competed in the Otago Southland Secondary School Ski & Snowboard Competition at Cardrona.
We had a great day up the mountain, and all the girls Ember McAughtrie, Abbey Hamilton, Jessie O’Connell, Liberty Vile, Laura Hamilton, Grace Creighton, Hannah White, Lily Rodger, Katie Sewell, Bella Norman, Daizy Thompson-Fawcett, Emily Hill, Imogene Maclean, Samantha Smith, Gemma O’Donnell, Mary Gavin, Siena Snow, represented the school well and gained valuable experience from competing at this level.
There were a lot of pleasing results:
1st Girls Ski Team, Gold Medal - Ember McAughtrie, Abbey Hamilton, Liberty Vile, Jessie O'Connell
1st Ski Giant Slalom, Gold Medal - Liberty Vile
2nd Girls Snowboarding, Silver Medal - Siena Snow
This is the first time that Columba has won the Girls section overall. It is also the biggest group that we have had ski racing, which was awesome to see . Our thanks go to Dr D Hill, Mr A Hamilton and Mr A Williams for assisting the team on the day.
