Year 8 Camp
Year 8 students were blessed with perfect weather conditions during their recent camp at Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound, Fiordland.
Amy and Nick from Adventure Southland accompanied the group and guided the students through many activities. The students had the opportunity to fish, swim in rock pools, observe the night sky, spy on glow worms, conduct science experiments in the fiord, use iPads to identify local flora and fauna, climb a waterfall, hike a hanging valley and be immersed in the stunning fiord surrounds.
A highlight for a number of our students was the boat trip in the fiord during which we managed to get a close-up view of the seals and experience just enough wave motion for fun.
Students made the most of every moment, rising bright and early and exploring and adventuring all day long. These adventurers were returned home safely - weary and happy, having had the time of their lives!
We are grateful for the assistance provided by a very supportive and vibrant group of parent helpers: Tanya Porter, Dominika Biziak-Kochan, Patrick Lyall, Graeme Wallace and Josh Jones. Thank you also to Ms Gemmill who did all the pre-camp preparation for us, including food and transport.
