This year the annual Chamber Music New Zealand competition went online. We had two students gain recognition with their groups at District and Regional levels.

Skyla Murray played violin with her group, Tischenko 22, playing in a Trio with Boudewijn Keenan (OBHS) playing cello and Sophie Sun (LPHS) on the piano. Having practiced rio No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 8 by Shostakovich since December, they won the district round, gaining a Bronze Award in the regionals finals. They were tutored by Heleen Du Plessis.

Isabelle Coe played in The Laser Narwhal with Cindy Chou and Cathy Zeng both from Logan Park. They played Gian Carlo Menotti’s Trio for Violin, Clarinet and Piano, and gained a Highly Commended award. They were tutored by John Van Buskirk.
