Success at NZ Gymnastics National Championships!

Miss P Hopcroft —

During the second week of the July school holidays Charlotte Bloxham (Year 6), Molly Ballard (Year 11) and Zuzanna Kochan (Year 8) represented Otago in Woman’s Artistic Gymnastics and competed at the NZ Gymnastics National Championships in Auckland.

All three girls competed well and were rewarded for their skills in attaining proficiency pins for reaching a significantly high score in a National competition. This was the first National competition for both Charlotte and Zuzanna.

Charlotte Bloxham won a bronze medal on the uneven bars on her first day of apparatus competition. Her overall score gained her a place (top 32 of 72 gymnasts) for the All-Around finals competition where she was placed 11th overall in Step 5 unders and 12th overall in NZ.

Zuzanna Kochan competed well and placed 5th on the uneven bars in her Step 6 apparatus competition and performed strong routines on floor, beam and vault.

Molly Ballard came 1st in Step 9 in her All-Around competition against a very talented group of gymnasts and gained silver on beam and bronze on the floor for her apparatus competition. Molly also won the Rainbow Cup which is awarded for the best result for a senior gymnast in any grade. Molly’s achievement at this level of gymnastics is truly commendable and inspiring.

These are fantastic results and we look forward to following all three girls' sporting journey in Artistic Gymnastics!
