Stunning Dunedin day for the start of the Cross Country Race Series

Mrs G Beardmore —

Tuesday dawned bright and blue for the first of the Otago Secondary Schools Cross Country and Road Race series. Seven Columba students participated in the event at Logan Park, and it was a joy to witness the effort and athleticism of students participating in the 20th Anniversary of this fabulous event.

Year 9 Columba students and sisters Kate and Brianna, together with Lila, Melanie and Maddi (Year 11), Taylah (Year 12) and Faith (Year 13), headed off to Logan Park on a beautiful day for Race One of four in the Cross Country Series. The 2.5km race was on flat quality terrain and all runners put on a fabulous display of speed, strength and stamina.

Congratulations to all our Columba runners, and a special mention to Lila Rhodes who won the Junior girls division in a time of 9:40.08 mins. Well done Columba!

We now are looking forward to race two in the series, the Caversham Relays on Thursday 25th May. Thank you to all those parents and supporters of Columba College who come out to encourage our runners from the sidelines. We appreciate your support!
