Scent Hearts Project

Miss Olivia Charles —

Over the past two terms, Columba College has taken part in the Scent Hearts Project initiative, led by the Neonatal Trust.

This involves making hearts out of cotton fabric to give to parents whose babies are cared for in Neonatal Units around the country. The hearts are made in pairs - one is given to the parents to wear when they are apart from their baby, and the second heart is placed near the baby. The hearts are then swapped frequently to maintain a bond, so the baby and their parents can smell each other and feel loved.

Students made a total of 48 of these hearts to create 24 support packs for parents around NZ - thank you to everyone who took part to support this amazing cause! A huge thank you also to Miss Hillier for helping to organise this project.
