A superb effort against 50 other teams saw our Year 10 team of Jody Syme, Olivia Charles and Georgia Wong take out the Otago Extra! Current Event Quiz for 2018.

For five points, what am I? I was built between 1887 and 1889.

Five Year 9 and 10 teams travelled down to Kaikorai Valley College to battle it out over 10 rounds of general knowledge and current event questions.

For four points: I was the tallest structure in the world until the Chrysler Building was opened in 1930.

Teams needed to have a high level of New Zealand and global general knowledge, they needed to be efficient with their time and strategise in the ‘who’ and ‘what am I?’ rounds to gain maximum points.

For three points: I am 324m tall.

Congratulations to our winning team, who ended up in clear first place after dropping only one mark in the final two rounds. A great afternoon was had by all five Columba College teams. Thank you to the ODT and to Kaikorai Valley College for supporting and organising the event.
