GirlBoss recognition for Kayla Millar

Mrs E Harris —

Kayla Millar, Year 12, has been recognised as one of New Zealand’s future leaders winning a $250 dollar scholarship from all her dedication both inside and outside of the classroom.

After having a successful application she will now be attending a 10-day online course with some of the nation's most successful female entrepreneurs including Simran Kaur, Vanessa Goodson, and Alicia McKay.

Kayla believes that helping others is important and always tries her best to make sure her peers are doing well. She has volunteered in many schooling activities including road patrol, peer tutoring, refereeing, and being the captain of multisport. Earlier this year, she sustained a serious injury, having to have a spinal fusion surgery, however, this did not stop her from putting others first. Just three months post surgery she walked 40km in six hours, raising over $450 dollars for the 40-Hour Famine. Even though she cannot participate in sporting events until next year, she is actively involved in helping to motivate others to increase participation rates across a range of sports. Not only this, but Kayla is a very diligent student, attaining an academic blue for NCEA Level 1. She is very excited about this upcoming opportunity and can’t wait to learn and soak up advice from very influential and inspiring entrepreneurs.

We wish her all the best and look forward to seeing what Kayla's future holds.
