French 'dinner' party

Miss Gardiner —

The French dinner party is always a highlight to senior French class.

The event was to celebrate finishing internal assessments, Holly and Hanin's fantastic results in the speech competition, as well as to learn about French cuisine and dining etiquette.

Solène, the language assistant introduced the first course 'l'apéro'. A homemade strawberry juice mocktail with an assortment of nibbles. We had to pace ourselves because next came the entrée of snails. A very entertaining and surprisingly delicious course for lovers of garlic and butter.

For the main course we had cheese Raclette. A very social meal as you melt your cheese yourself in a machine and pour it over an assortment  of vegetables and cold meats.

Dessert was an upside down apple tart called Tarte Tatin with crème fraîche.

To finish we digested slowly over coffee and tea.
