Zara (Year 13) dances her way to the top!
Zara recently attended Highland Dancing Nationals that were held in Ashburton with outstanding results.
Zara placed in all 10 u18 years dances with placings from 1st-7th, earning her the tile of Runner-up u18 NZ Champion! Many hours of dedication and hard work have gone into achieving these amazing results as Highland dancing requires an extraordinarily high level of fitness and discipline.
Zara has worked really hard, balancing school work, study, dancing and teaching, and also has a part-time job after school at the local pharmacy. Her schedule has been challenging at times but the results have been rewarding as she has just learned that she has been accepted into the New Zealand Highland Dance Company. Ka pai, Zara!
Zara also teaches Year 9 Columba student, Erin, who likewise competed at Nationals in both of the u14 and u16 age groups. Erin has worked super hard with early morning and after school lessons with Zara; she came away with a 3rd and numerous ribbons of commendation across the board. Keep up the great work, Erin!
