Year 8 Columba College student Melanie Button competed in the Squash NZ SuperChamps held recently in Oamaru (September 2020).

Melanie was recently a member of the winning 'E' grade squash team at the ladies Otago District Elimination held in Cromwell. Winning the event meant the team qualified to represent Otago at the National SuperChamps in Oamaru. 

At the SuperChamps event, qualifying teams from around New Zealand compete for the title of top 'E' grade team. With the majority of teams being made up of adult players, Melanie was the youngest competitor and enjoyed testing her skills against more experienced players. Melanie had a successful tournament, winning two of her four matches and helping the Otago team finish 7th (beating their 8th place seeding). It was a great few days away with lots of close games played and watched!
